Job Description

The Senior Engineer's primary role uses engineering expertise to identify and validate new technology to be integrated into future new products leveraging project management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Will be able to select appropriate materials and design complex structures unassisted from start to finish
  • Will have a good understanding of commonly used manufacturing and tooling processes and how to effectively design parts for them
  • Focus on the product structure and appearance, manufacturing process, prototyping and New Product Development of textile based wearable technology
  • Able to assess the suitability of a fabrication technology for a given part design
  • Assists supplier selection process for new products and second sourcing activities supporting qualification/disqualification decisions
  • Planning validation exercises to demonstrate initial feasibility as well as manufacturing capability
  • Reviewing progress of development activities at supplier locations and serve as point of escalation for critical process related issues
  • Reviewing part design documentation to ensure alignment with process capability
  • Identify shortfalls and corrective actions to ensure design compliance
  • Identify potential execution issues and provide recommendations to mitigate risk
  • Analyzing results of validation exercises and provide technical recommendations

Job Requirements

  • Bachler's of Science in Material Science and Engineering preferred, also in consideration: Textile Engineering or Chemical Engineering, master's desired
  • 5+ years of experience in the design and manufacture, preferred experience with soft goods, natural and synthetic materials that are flexible including but not limited to textiles, foams, rubber, filters and other
  • Experience working knowledge of various interconnecting and layering technologies such as sewing, weaving, knitting, press adhesive and other technologies used to connect two or more fabrics
  • Experience in Personal Protective Equipment preferred
  • Working knowledge of mechanical quality and reliability concepts, supplier management, and manufacturing operations
  • International experience, particularly in Asia is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 10-20% (travel includes Domestic and International)
