Job Description

This position is located at Imperial Blades in Sun Prairie, WI.  Imperial Blades joined Milwaukee Tool in October of 2018.

Receiving: To accurately accept shipments, receive deliveries, verify shipping records and distribute/put away materials in a fast-paced environment to meet the daily requirements.

Shipping: To pick, pack and ship orders in a fast-paced environment to meet the daily requirements for orders shipped while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

This position will require a person that can work efficiently and effectively with other shipping personnel, but work independently and be coachable when needed. A positive attitude and the ability to remain flexible is a must as the daily game plan or order priority changes frequently.

The position reports to the Supervisor of Materials at Imperial Blades.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Unloads freight, signs BOL, receives deliveries, processes paperwork according to procedures
* Directs or stages customer supplied equipment in appropriate areas

  • Completes incoming product according to priority
  • Delivers product to the proper inventory location, department or personnel
  • Ensures special labeling/internal distribution requirements are met by following procedures
    * Ensure all necessary documentation accompanies received product or shipped order
    • Utilizes software & mobile scanners/internal bar coding processes to ensure accuracy
    • Verifies the correct product and quantities have been delivered

* Follows proper put away procedures for the security and safety of product
* Communicates delivery issues effectively with Team Leads or Purchasing Dept. for advice
* Ensures identifiable needs and issues are communicated in a timely fashion
* Arranges for removal of waste wood, pallets and recyclable cardboard

  • Stocks shipping & receiving materials at acceptable levels at all times
    * Assists in other areas of manufacturing during periods of slow volume
    * Able to work extended hours to accommodate changes in daily volume that may be required
    * Requests are completed in a professional manner and by needed deadlines
    • May be assigned special projects and other duties

* Picks, Packs and Ships product orders and prepares for shipment according to procedures
* Completes orders due to ship for the day

* Ensures special customer packing/shipping requirements are met by following procedures
* Verifies the correct product and quantities are shipping

  • Follows proper packaging procedures for the security and safety of product during transport
    * Follows order processing procedures utilizing the ERP system, Ozlink and shipping software
    * Uses approved vendors for specific shipping methods when appropriate

* Communicates shipping issues effectively with the Shipping Supervisor for advice

  • Completes daily data entry and generates reports required by deadlines
  • Maintains a clean/organized work area, cleans, sweeps, returns tools to designated locations

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Imperial Blades products sufficient to correctly identify product
  • Possess manual dexterity and good coordination
  • Basic reading/writing/math skills (add/subtract/percentages/Algebra/convert minutes to hours)
  • Possess necessary computer skills to utilize required manufacturing software systems
  • Possess ability to resolve minor problems, recognize normal and unusual situations
  • Some areas will require the ability to work with manual and/or power equipment
  • Able to operate a manual pallet jack and electric pallet jack
  • Able to be certified to operate order picker and power pallet jack
  • Able to be certified to operate a forklift as needed
  • Able to utilize a mobile scanner for picking product
  • Demonstrates strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required
  • Coachable and applies instruction immediately
  • Maintains professionalism and remains flexible in a changing work environment
  • Is able to think independently and work without direction
  • Possess dependability and accountability

Education and/or Experience:

* HS diploma or equivalent (GED) required

* 6--12 mo. of practical work experience

  • Experience using MRP software preferred
    * Experience using basic shipping tools (scale, labeling, hand tools, etc.)

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • The employee may be required to frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
    • 51 pounds and above will require assisted lift; another person or mechanical assistance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Prolonged standing of eight or more hours a day
  • Frequent walking
  • Occasional bending, crouching, twisting, reaching
  • Employees are required to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in work cells
