Job Description

The Planner is responsible for planning and reviewing activities related to receipt and disposition of incoming and outgoing inventory. Due to the nature of this position, interaction with all departments throughout the organization is common in addition to collaboration with corporate counterparts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain data integrity of Inventory transactions in ERP and WMS systems.
  • Super User and Subject Matter Expert for AX and HighJump
    • Identify and provide input on potential changes to current processes as needed
    • Support system testing as required
  • Discover and identify the root cause of each material inventory variance
    • Responsible for creating and running reports for error checking and management team review
  • Study demand, movement and cycles to establish suitable inventory levels
    • Review Min-Max values quarterly, update as consumption changes
    • Provide Min-Max values for new parts during NPD launches
    • As needed, advise on order placement based on established min/max as set up in the system
    • Assist with disposition of excess goods as needed
    • Provide solutions for unidentified parts
    • Provide solutions for orders holding for materials
  • Review Recon priority list and ensure parts are available for scheduled work
  • Communicate details, ideas, and concepts to the management team, both verbal and written
    • Collaborate with Corporate Supply/Demand Planning
    • Review capacity and identify time periods when capacity could impact Operations ability to meet demand or need for additional work
    • Assist in achieving customer service levels and Weeks of Stock (WOS) goals
      • Actively support cradle to grave product management reducing risk of supply disruption and end of life excess and obsolescence
      • Material liaison for NPD planning, product discontinuance, and their execution
      • Coordinate the planning and implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and deviations
    • Work with Service Parts Manager to administer inventory initiatives and best practices
    • Maintain proper inventory levels, recommend and preserve safety stock
      • Assist in achieving inventory turnover goals
      • Evaluate safety stock for WIP buffer inventory
      • Collaborate with suppliers on Kanban, VMI, Vending and Consigned Inventory
      • Collaborate with Operations on Kanban, visual management and replenishment
    • Purchase Order Management
    • Order MRO and non-stock related items
    • Coordinate the return of non-conforming materials to suppliers
  • Personal development to include continuously updating skills related to Lean, Supply Chain and inventory management, and control best practices
  • Practice 5S and safety
  • Take appropriate corrective action for continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction
  • May be assigned other tasks and responsibilities as production needs require.
  • May be required to work other shifts and overtime, either onsite or from home; assist with after-hours system issues.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School or GED diploma required
  • Proficient typing and ten key skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • AX and HJ experience required
  • Requires a high level of attention to detail
  • Previous inventory scheduling experience preferred
